Camden County Workforce Investment Board

Supporting the development and retention of a world class workforce

WIB Mission Statement

In partnership with the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Camden County WIB brings together the business leadership of the region with government agencies, economic development agencies, labor representatives and community based organizations to work towards the development of a workforce system benefiting the Camden County employers and residents.

The Workforce Investment Board was created by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) enacted by Congress in 1998.  The law requires that the needs of the labor force play a major role in defining how training programs and services be structured.

Through strategic planning sessions, the Camden County WIB has convened community leaders in the development of the mission statement.

To create the BEST customer driven delivery system for employment, training and education-related programs and services by providing strategic management, planning, implementation and evaluation in order to enhance the regions long term economic success for all citizens and organizations.

· To provide leadership in all workforce issues.

· To provide a holistic delivery of services.

· To continually improve the quality of services for all customers.

· To empower customers to make informed choices and take control of their careers.

· To provide and guarantee universal access to employment opportunities.

· To provide quality workers for all of the regions employers.

· To create partnerships and collaboration in the government, private and non profit stakeholders

Focusing in on specific populations, the Camden County WIB has developed reports on how Camden County will work with various job seeking customers.

· The Consolidation Plan shows how multiple funding streams would be leveraged to provide services to a wider array of customers, including those individuals receiving public assistance, through the Camden County One-Stop Career Center.

· The Strategic Plan focuses on serving adults and youth through the WIA funds.

· Youth are an important concern to the Camden County WIB and the Youth Strategic Plan outlines how Camden County will work with this population.

· Literacy is a major obstacle to employment for many Camden County residents.  The Literacy Plan provides an overview of the services available in Camden County and how they work with other service provides to meet the needs of residents who have low literacy levels.
